Environmental stresses such as Climate Change; poisons and pollution in the air, water and food chain; domestic predators like cats and rats; and dramatic losses of crucial habitat are all factors in a dramatic decline in bird populations over the last 50 years.
13 banners are hung throughout Dundee Island Park in Passaic, NJ. These show a selection of birds that are impacted by changes in the environment. Some of these birds are thriving and common and can be seen on site as regular inhabitants or seasonal visitors.
Others were more commonly present in the past, before the Passaic River and its surrounding forests were greatly altered for urban and suburban development.
